Particle for Linux

Particle for Linux brings the power of the Particle platform to Linux-based devices – whether you're using your own hardware or one of our first-party products like Tachyon.

From prototyping to production, Particle makes it easy to connect, manage, and update Linux-based edge devices. Our platform supports a wide range of third-party hardware – including the Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and Qualcomm RB3 Gen2 – and provides a seamless path to cloud integration, over-the-air updates, and remote monitoring. For even deeper integration, pair your hardware with the M-HAT to unlock cellular connectivity, GPS, and advanced power management.

If you’re looking for a fully integrated experience, Tachyon is our flagship first-party Linux device, purpose-built for the Particle platform. It ships with connectivity and management features pre-configured – but you're also free to start from scratch using the general Linux setup flow.

Platform Features

Whether you're scaling a fleet of Raspberry Pi devices or building a product on Tachyon, Particle provides everything you need to operate your Linux-based systems at scale — including device management, application development and updates, over-the-air system updates, configuration tools, and remote monitoring.

These capabilities are deeply integrated into the Particle platform, making it easy to deploy, operate, and scale connected devices in the field with confidence.

Once your device is online, head over to the Application Runtime section to learn how to deploy and manage your apps on Linux.
