M-SoM Setup

The Particle M-SoM can be set up in two different ways, depending on your development needs. You can either install it on a Muon carrier board for a plug-and-play experience, or use the M.2 SoM breakout board for maximum flexibility when evaluating and designing custom hardware.

  • Use the M.2 SoM breakout board if you want full access to the module’s interfaces for evaluation, prototyping, or early product design.
  • Use the Muon carrier board if you want a ready-to-use development kit form factor to quickly test connectivity and application code.

Using the M-SoM with Muon​

Refer to the Muon setup guide for detailed instructions on getting started with the M-SoM when paired with the Muon carrier board.

Using the M-SoM with the M.2 SoM Breakout Board​

  1. Insert the M-SoM into the M.2 socket on the breakout board.
  2. Connect the GNSS, cellular, and Wi-Fi/BLE antennas.
  3. Install the power module on the breakout board.
  4. Power the board with the supplied AC/DC power adapter
  5. Plug in the battery
  6. Connect the breakout board to your computer using a USB cable.
  7. Follow the guided instructions at setup.particle.io to claim your device and complete setup.
